Description
Small worms. Prostomium roundish, only slightly broader than subsequent segments; ciliated field restricted to ventral side. Sensory pits lateral, often connected with ventral field. Cutaneous glands lemon yellow, more numerous on anterior and posterior ends. Chaetae few per bundle, of two kinds. Hair chaetae 0-3(4) per bundle, strongly curved, of two lengths (80-105 and 40-60 µm). Sigmoid chaetae begin from dorsal bundles of III, 0-2 per bundle, 28-35 µm long, with two fine distal teeth, and 2-3 additional denticles on their concave side. Length of a chain of 4 zooids about 2 mm, length of a zooid 0.5-0.6 mm, width 0.05-0.06 mm. Segment number of the first zooid 6-7(8), segment number of a single individual 7-10. Differing from the most similar species, Aeolosoma tenebrarum, in smaller size and segment number, as well as in relatively smaller prostomium.
