Description
Middle-sized unpigmented, pink earthworms. Chaetae closely paired. Male pores in XV as simple slits without any glandular pads, even in fully mature individuals. Clitellum from XXIII...XXVIII to XXXII or XXXIII, tubercula pubertatis as ridges between XXVII...XXX and XXXI...XXXIII. Length 35-170 mm, body diameter 3-6 mm, segment number 76-163. Differing from most other earthworms in lack of glandular pads at male pores.
Burrowing in soil and sediment.
Distribution
Europe, the Caucasus.
Ecology
In wet soil of freshwater shores.
Reproduction
Sexual only. Eggs laid in cocoons.
