Description
Medium-sized worms. Prostomium prolonged, conical, with rounded end. External secondary annulation beginning from II or III. Chaetae two per bundle, sigmoid with distal nodulus, simple-pointed, 56-126 µm long, the shortest in II and in anterior dorsal bundles. Male pores in X, spermathecal pores in XI and XII, clitellum in X-XII(1/2 XIII). Pharyngeal glands reach to VIII. Chloragogen tissue on oesophagus beginning from VIII. No lateral blood vessels in postclitellar segments. Atria with pyriform or oval ampulla, very short duct and small penis; muscular wall of ampulla about 5 µm thick. Two pairs of spermathecae with ovoid ampulla and long duct. Length 10-30 mm, segment number 48-67. Differing from congeners in the combination of the internal characters.
Burrowing in sediment.

In freshwater.

Reproduction
Sexual only. Eggs laid in cocoons.
