Description
Medium-sized but thin earthworms. Body unpigmented, flesh-coloured but with scattered black marks. Chaetae closely paired. Clitellum long, from XXI or XXII to XXXII or XXXIII. Tubercula pubertatis usually short, ridge-like in XXIX...XXX or XXX...XXXI, sometimes extending into neighbouring segments. Glandular pads on male pores large, extending from XIV to XVI. Length 35-80 mm, body diameter 1-2 mm, segment number 90-197. Externally easily distinguishable by black spots when present.
Burrowing in soil and sediment.
Distribution
Southern Europe, the Caucasus.
Ecology
In freshwater and wet soil.
Reproduction
Sexual only. Eggs laid in cocoons.
