Description
Small worms. Prostomium roundish, insignificantly broader than subsequent segments; ciliated field restricted to ventral side. Sensory pits lateral, semilunar, separated from ciliated field. Cutaneous glands very numerous; their secretion yellowish green, homogeneous. Hair chaetae by 3-6(7) per bundle, of two lengths: 110-160 and 50-85 µm. Most often, 2-3 long and 2-4 short chaetae per bundle. Chaetae slightly bent proximally, generally smooth, but shorter ones very finely serrated on the concave side of their middle portion. Length of a chain of six zooids up to 3 mm, width about 0.09 mm; the first zooid consisting of 7 (rarely 6) segments, about 1 mm long. Differing from the most similar species, Aeolosoma variegatum, in homogenous content and in absence of additional cell, in cutaneous glands.
