Aporrectodea limicola

Description
Middle-sized unpigmented earthworms. Grey or flesh-coloured, chaetae closely paired. Tubercula pubertatis in XXXIII and XXXIV, forming dumbbell-shaped figures. Clitellum from XXIX (XXVIII) to XXXV (XXXVI). Length 40-100 mm, body diameter 3-4 mm, segment number 86-146. Can be confused with the more common Aporrectodea caliginosa but differing from it in the position of tubercula pubertatis.
Burrowing in soil and sediment.

Distribution
Western Europe, introduced to North America.

Ecology
In wet soil, marshes, sometimes in ditches. Rare.

Reproduction
Sexual only. Eggs laid in cocoons.
