Trichodrilus intermedius

Description
Middle-sized pink worms. Prostomium short roundish. External secondary annulation, with a shorter anterior ring, well expressed. Chaetae two per bundle, sigmoid with nodulus, simple-pointed. Male pores in X, spermathecal pores in XI and XII. Clitellum in X-XXIV. Pharyngeal glands in IV-V. Chloragogen tissue covering oesophagus from VI. Posterior transversal vessels 2-6 pairs per segment. Atria short, cylindrical, length at least 2.5 times as large as width, terminating with very short efferent duct, and small penis. Two pairs of spermathecae, with large oval or pyriform ampulla and distinct short duct. Length 30-60 mm. Differing from congeners mostly in the combination of the internal characters.
Burrowing in sediment.
