Description
Body surface smooth and light. No eyes. All chaetae as bifid crotchets, dorsal ones beginning from V. Ventral chaetae of II, 5-6 per bundle, 51-75 µm long, their upper tooth twice as long as lower one. Further rearward 2-4 chaetae both in ventral and dorsal bundles, 48-67 µm long, tooth length becoming gradually equal. In mature individuals penial chaetae straighter than the rest, bifid. Length 6-10 mm, segment number in zooids 14, in single individuals 22.
Distribution
Rare, known only from Europe.
Ecology
In slightly brackish water, even in almost fresh coastal pools.
Reproduction
Mostly asexual, by paratomy (budding). Mature individuals and sexual reproduction rare or seasonal.
